Cardi B Makes History After Becoming the First Female Rapper in America With Four Diamond-Certified Songs
American rapper Cardi B has made history in the music industry after becoming the first female rapper in America to have four songs achieve Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The achievement came after her hit song “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion received Diamond certification, a recognition given to songs that reach 10 million certified units through sales and streams in the United States.
“WAP” joins Cardi B’s other Diamond-certified songs, including “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5. The milestone makes her the first female rapper to reach this level, marking a major achievement in Hip-Hop history.
Released in August 2020, “WAP” quickly became one of the biggest songs worldwide, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Nearly six years after its release, the song has continued to prove its impact by reaching Diamond status.
