PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi Under Investigation in France.
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is under preliminary investigation in France over suspected illegal conflict of interest linked to the negotiation of Ligue 1 television broadcasting rights, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
The investigation was opened after a report by French anti-corruption organisation Anticor and has been assigned to France’s Financial Anti-Corruption Brigade.
The case concerns Al-Khelaifi’s overlapping positions in French football and the media industry. At the time of the events under investigation in 2024, he was president of PSG, chairman of beIN Media Group and a member of the board of the French Professional Football League (LFP).
Investigators are examining a meeting held in July 2024 involving Al-Khelaifi and representatives of the LFP during discussions over the league’s television rights. Anticor has questioned whether his different roles created a conflict of interest during the negotiations.
The investigation follows a report submitted by Anticor to the Paris prosecutor’s office in March 2026. The organisation alleged that Al-Khelaifi’s multiple positions could have allowed him to influence decisions concerning the broadcasting rights in favour of beIN Media Group. These remain allegations that investigators are examining.
Al-Khelaifi’s representatives have rejected the allegations. His entourage has described Anticor’s report as “absurd,” while his lawyer has said the PSG president has always acted independently, impartially and objectively.
The opening of a preliminary investigation does not establish that Al-Khelaifi committed an offence. The inquiry is intended to determine whether any wrongdoing occurred and to establish the circumstances surrounding the 2024 broadcasting-rights negotiations
