Kiyovu president Nkurunziza David confirmed the departure onThursday, October 8, saying Harrison had left the club for personal reasons and that there had been no dispute between him and the club leadership.

Harrison’s departure comes less than two months after he joined Kiyovu Sports, having been appointed to help rebuild the team and restore its competitiveness in the new season.

The Englishman arrived in Rwanda in August and took charge after the departure of Francis Haringingo, who left Kiyovu to coach rivals Rayon Sports.

His short tenure began positively when Kiyovu won the 2026 FERWAFA Super Cup, defeating Police FC 1-0 in the final on August 30.

However, the team struggled to maintain that form in the league.

Kiyovu opened its campaign with defeats against Gorilla FC and Musanze FC before securing its first league victory by beating Bugesera FC 1-0 on September 15.

The three points left Kiyovu with three points from three matches.

Reports have also linked Harrison’s departure to financial difficulties that have affected the club in recent weeks. The coach was reportedly pressing the club's management to address financial issues affecting both him and the players, amid concerns that the situation was making it difficult for the team to perform effectively.

The club, however, has not publicly confirmed financial problems as the reason for the separation.

Harrison leaves Kiyovu after a brief spell in which he won one major trophy but managed only one league victory.

Kiyovu are now expected to begin the search for a new head coach as they prepare for their next league fixture against Marine FC at Stade Umuganda.
