Rwanda Set to Host the Sixth Renewable Energy Summit
As part of its continued commitment to promoting clean energy and addressing the effects of climate change, Rwanda is preparing to host the Sixth Renewable Energy Summit. The international conference is scheduled to take place in Kigali from September 8 to 10, 2026, bringing together government leaders, investors, energy experts, development partners, and private sector representatives from across the world.
The summit will focus on identifying sustainable solutions to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy across Africa. Discussions will center on expanding access to affordable and reliable clean energy, promoting economic growth, attracting investment, and improving electricity access for communities. Participants will also explore innovative technologies and policies that can help strengthen the renewable energy sector on the continent.
In addition to high-level panel discussions, the event will feature exhibitions showcasing the latest renewable energy technologies, networking sessions, and technical visits to selected clean energy projects in Rwanda. These activities are expected to provide participants with an opportunity to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and build partnerships that support sustainable development.
Organizers say Rwanda continues to position itself as a regional leader in clean energy by investing in renewable sources such as solar, hydropower, and other environmentally friendly energy solutions. Hosting the summit is expected to reinforce the country’s commitment to sustainable development while attracting new investment and strengthening collaboration in Africa’s transition to clean energy.
The summit is being organized through a partnership between Energy Private Developers (EPD) and the Ministry of Infrastructure (MININFRA), alongside other development partners. It is expected to contribute to stronger regional cooperation, increased investment in renewable energy projects, and Africa’s broader efforts to achieve sustainable development through clean and reliable energy.
