Trump Threatens to Strike Oman if it Interferes in US-Iran Talks.
In a phone interview with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that the United States could launch attacks on Oman if the country attempts to interfere in negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
During the interview, Trump also claimed that there was a secret and positive cooperation between the U.S. military and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). IRGC officials strongly rejected the claim, telling Iran’s Tasnim news agency that Trump made the remarks in an attempt to save face after losing the war he started.
Trump’s comments came after Iran and Oman held talks on ways to establish arrangements for regulating ships passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20 percent of the world’s petroleum consumption is transported.
Oman has traditionally been a key U.S. partner in the Middle East but has reportedly faced major attacks from Iran since the war began, following U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran on February 28, 2026.
Trump made the remarks as the 60-day Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Washington and Tehran is expected to expire on August 18, 2026. The MoU was intended to provide time for negotiations aimed at ending the conflict and securing the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
