Egypt conducts Africa’s first trial of 6GHz technology
Egypt has conducted Africa’s first trial of 6GHz technology, marking a new step in the development of telecommunications technology.
The trial was conducted by Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), in partnership with Telecom Egypt and Huawei. During the trial, a mobile base station using the 6GHz band was set up, and data transmission was successfully tested using the frequency.
The data speed reached approximately 1.7 Gbps per user, demonstrating the potential of the technology to increase internet speeds and network capacity, particularly in areas with many users accessing the internet at the same time.
The 6GHz technology could also support services that require high-speed and high-capacity internet, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality and Cloud Computing.
However, 6GHz is not the same as 6G. 6GHz refers to a frequency band being tested for mobile services, while 6G is the next generation of mobile technology, which is still under development.
