The Commission on the Monitoring of the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) named “AI for Good Global Commission” was established by the United Nations through the ITU to bring together government leaders, business leaders, and international non-governmental organizations to examine the problems of the misuse of artificial intelligence in today's developing world, and to find better solutions.
The goal of the Commission is to establish solid strategies to increase people's trust in the use of Artificial Intelligence, support innovative projects, and ensure that the benefits of technology contribute to global development.
The members of this Commission will jointly explore solutions that will ensure that intellectual progress reaches all and is inclusive.
During the meeting of the Commission, its members will also take the opportunity to establish its key activities, including increasing international cooperation, expanding people's access to advanced technologies, and jointly addressing the challenges posed by the rapid development of advanced technologies including the Artificial Intelligence.
The first objective of the Commission is to establish concrete strategies that will lead to a reduction in inequality in the use of technology. The International Telecommunication Union’sfigures indicate that 2.2 billion people worldwide do not have access to internet, which prevents them from accessing modern technological developments, including artificial intelligence.
One of the goals and objectives of the Commission is to make Artificial Intelligence a tool to address the problems the world continues to face, rather than increasing the inequalities in various aspects, especially among people and communities across developing countries.
